For the very attractive price of UNDER USD $14,000.00*, Americana WellCareCR offers eight to ten day Bariatric Surgery packages: 1) gastric sleeve surgery to cure Type 2 diabetes and/or to induce weight loss in obese patients, or 2) gastric bypass surgery to cure Type 2 diabetes in non-obese patients. Both surgeries are performed by eminent bariatric surgeon Dr. Jacobo Zafrani at Hospital Clínica Bíblica in San José, Costa Rica. Americana WellcareCR WILL NOT send patients to small unidimensional, non-accredited clinics that cannot deal immediately with possible complications on the spot.

Recommendations: ALL potential patients for bariatric surgery should have a complete check up before traveling to Costa Rica. Please make sure to bring your medical records and all other pertinent information regarding your health. If you do this, the likelihood that you will be able to have this surgery increases, and you will not have traveled to Costa Rica for nothing. Everything must be completely in order prior to surgery.
IMPORTANT: If, following medical and psychological testing and evaluation you are NOT qualified, for whatever reason, to undergo bariatric surgery, you will be refunded for all medical and other services not received minus the cost of two recovery center nights and a $300.00 consultation/service fee to Americana WellCareCR.
ALSO, depending on your physical condition and the advice and permission of Dr. Zafrani, low-stress eco-tours and excursions in the San José area can be added to the basic package during and after your stay at the recovery center. Americana WellCareCR can arrange these tours for you. In addition, eco-tours, travel to and stays in other areas of Costa Rica, activities and excursions, like the volcano tour as shown below, sportsfshing on the Pacific or Caribbean coast, canopy tours, white water rafting and a host of other exciting Costa Rica tours, are certainly available before your surgical treatment. These can be added to the basic package. The same conditions apply to patients having plastic or orthopedic surgery. Drive through some of the most scenic areas of Costa Rica to view one of the world's most active volcanoes. This 14-hour eco-friendly tour takes you first to Sarchí, the center of traditional Costa Rica handicrafts, where you will see, among other pieces of folk art, the wonderful brightly painted ox-carts, and then along picturesque country roads through the Central Highlands and its quaint farming towns, and across the rich farmlands of the San Carlos plateau en route to the volcano. Arenal Volcano erupted for the first time this century in 1968 and has been continuously active ever since. The frequency and intensity of its eruptions are truly awe inspiring. After observing the protected volcano and exploring the lava flows, you can enjoy a couple of hours at the relaxing Tabacon Hot Springs and then a buffet dinner at the acclaimed Tabacon Resort.
Travel by comfortable bus to a modified 'ski lift' that soars above more than one and a half miles (2.6 km) of the Costa Rican Caribbean rain forest. The 90-minute gondola ride in this extremely popular eco-tour ferries you to the different levels of the rainforest, including the treetops or 'canopy' - the hardest level to access and the least scientifically known part of the forest.
